The Loire covers some 600 miles of France and consequently has great variations of soil and climate as well as a good number of different grape varieties. Accordingly, careful selection is always required. As is our practice, we have chosen wines which properly reflect the local 'gout de terroir', from small but quality conscious growers.
Domaine Fouassier Pere et Fils
A very old Sancerre family with vineyards handed down from Father to son over several generations. Their time honoured traditions and respect of terroir coupled with modern techniques combine to produce a range of wines of exceptional quality.
Saumur - Domaine de la Paleine
For over a century, the Domaine de la Paleine has been producing wines from Saumur at the Puy Notre Dame. Chenin and Cabernet Franc vines take up the majority of the 32 hectares of the vinayard. The exceptional soil works as a sponge, retaining surplus water in the winter, which the vine feeds on as the fruit grows. This gives the wines of Domaine de la Paleine their unique character: full bodied, yet subtle and fruity.
