Nestled in the Alps, the Valais has a temperate climate. Long, mild Autumns coupled with its sloping vineyards covered with alluvium-enriched soil set this region apart from other wine growing areas. The indigenous Arvine, Cornalin and Humagne grapes are exclusive to this, The Valais. Rouvinez Vins is based on the right bank of the River Rhone, in the heart of Valais. Their family owned vineyards, in Sierre, comprise some 40 hectares. In 1990 the Rouvinez family acquired the Domaine Chateau Lichten near Loeche, an area that produces some of Switzerland's finest wines.
