From the Jordan's hillside vineyards there are spectacular panoramic views of Table Mountain, Flase Bay and Stellenbosch. The vineyards are planted between 160m and 410m above sea level and it is here that Gary and Kathy Jordan have been making their world class wines for over 10 years. The 146ha farm, with a history going back over 300 years was purchased by Gary's parents Ted and Sheelagh in 1982. Immediately they embarked on an extensive replanting programme specializing in classic varieties suited to the granite, well-drained clay-loam and gravel soils that make up the slopes of Jordan. Gary and Kathy are both qualified winemakers, having studied at the Davis Institute in California; they also have degrees in economics and geology between them and so make an impressive winemaking team. Their Jordan Chardonnay 2006 was awarded the Mission Hill Chardonnay Trophy at the IWSC 2007.
